In this two-day course, you’ll learn to mark out, cut and fit mortise-and-tenon joints by hand while making a wooden cutting board. Tom will guide you through each stage, from preparing the wood to assembling and finishing your piece.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll make a wooden cutting board while learning to mark out, cut and fit mortise-and-tenon joints by hand. A tenon is a projecting piece of wood that fits into a matching recess called a mortise.

On the first day, you’ll prepare the parts of the board and cut the tenons, mortises and grooves. On the second day, you’ll fit the joints and end pieces, make and install wooden drawbore pegs, then shape and finish your board

Lunch breaks are additional to the course hours. We provide a hot meal each day.

Weekend courses start at 9:00 AM.
