Preparing a flat, smooth wood surface is a fundamental skill in furniture making. In this course, you’ll learn how to set up and use bench planes and a card scraper. You’ll practise planing boards accurately and using the scraper to refine areas of difficult grain and prepare the wood for finishing.

Learn how to set up and use bench planes and a card scraper. You’ll practise making wood surfaces flat and smooth, controlling the plane as you work, and using a scraper to refine difficult areas of grain before finishing.

Weekend courses start at 9:00 AM, and weekday courses begin at 2:00 PM.
