We offer hands-on courses in traditional woodworking at our studio in Wrocław, Poland. You can start with the fundamentals of working with hand tools or focus on a particular skill, such as hand planing, dovetail or mortise-and-tenon joinery, hammer veneering, steam bending, or turning wooden pens. Yes. Woodworking from Scratch is designed for people with no previous experience. You will learn to use basic hand tools safely while making a wooden magnetic knife rack. Other courses focus on specific techniques; check the individual course description to choose one that suits your experience.

The courses are taught by Tom Bensari, a master woodworker, furniture designer, and founder of Bensari Workshop. Tom teaches techniques he uses in his own furniture-making practice, so you learn in a working studio where furniture is designed and made.

Groups have no more than six participants. This gives you time to work at the bench, ask questions, and receive guidance as you practise each technique.

No. We provide the tools, wood, other materials, and required protective equipment for the course. You do not need to buy or prepare anything in advance.

All courses take place at Bensari Workshop, ul. Krakowska 180, Building P, Unit 1, 52-015 Wrocław, Poland. Depending on the programme, a course lasts one or two days. The date, start time, and duration are given in the description of each course.

Yes, we welcome participants from abroad. Please contact us before booking to discuss the available dates and language arrangements for the course you are interested in.

Our courses are generally intended for adults. A minor may take part in an agreed activity using hand tools only, under the instructor’s supervision and with written consent from a parent or guardian. Minors do not operate woodworking machines. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss whether a particular course is suitable.

Yes. On request, we issue a named certificate confirming completion of the course.

Bensari Workshop is listed in Poland’s Development Services Database (BUR). Selected courses may be eligible for funding, including through the National Training Fund (KFS). Eligibility and the amount available depend on the programme and your circumstances. Please contact us before booking if you intend to apply for funding.

A woodworking course may form part of a funded military career transition programme if the participant is eligible and obtains the required funding approval. Bensari Workshop can provide details of the course programme, content, dates, and cost for the application. Before booking, please confirm that the specific course can be funded with the institution responsible for your transition support.
