The latest edition of Wood Design Festival 2025 has come to an end. Designers, craftsmen, and wood enthusiasts from across the country gathered in Łódź, creating a space for exchanging ideas and inspiration.
The festival’s ambition is to initiate discussions about craft education and to show young people possible paths of development. These values are especially close to my work at Bensari Workshop, where I run woodworking workshops for people at all levels of experience. I believe that learning woodworking can open new perspectives – both professional and personal.
As many of you know, my path to craftsmanship was not straightforward. I chose to fully dedicate myself to woodworking and design only at the age of 50. This proves that a career path doesn’t have to be linear. During the discussion panel, I was joined by Rafał Wojciechowski, an intern at Bensari Workshop, who made the same decision at 30 – giving him a 20-year head start. His story showed that engineering and craftsmanship can meet in wood, creating an inspiring example for the next generation.
I feel proud seeing that conversations about woodworking education are now part of such an important event – with participants directly engaged in the process of teaching and training. I always tell my students that at Bensari Workshop, I want each of them to discover in wood not just a material, but also a way to grow and to create objects that are durable, functional, and beautiful. I hope that thanks to events like this, woodworking and craft education will find their rightful place in the modern world.
